We use Italian vegetable tanned leather soles because leather naturally regulates temperature and airflow, keeping feet cooler and drier, and they mould to the shape of your foot over time, giving a more tailored feel. Leather soles are also part of a long-standing shoemaking tradition that favours quality and longevity over fast fixes.
How To Care
Step One
Let the soles breathe after each wear; airflow helps them stay dry and keeps the leather steady and strong.
Step Two
Always remember to remove the plastic cover from the leather soles before you wear them, otherwise the plastic will damage the leather when worn.
Step Three
Get a cobbler to add a light rubber protector at the toe or forefoot, helping the sole last longer without disturbing the silhouette. When the leather begins to thin, resole to extend the life of the shoes. They’re made to be mended.
What to Avoid
Too much moisture, the sole feels best when allowed to dry fully.
Rough, abrasive ground for long stretches; it wears the toe and heel faster than the rest of the sole.
Don’t wait too long to replace the sole, once it’s worn through, the structure can’t be restored.
